The Healthpath Longitudinal Study
The Healthpath Longitudinal Study is a large, nationwide survey that follows Dutch adults aged 60 to 66 as they approach retirement.
The study investigates how personal, organizational, and sector-level factors shape people’s ability to work healthily and sustainably until their planned retirement age.
Why this study?
The aging population and rising retirement age present serious challenges for older workers’ health and well-being. Many face chronic illness, stress, or job strain that make it harder to remain employed until retirement. HLS aims to understand:
Why some people succeed in working healthily until retirement,
How work environments help or hinder this process,
And what can be done to better support diverse groups of older workers.
